Ashton Williams came to the Center for Family and Community Engagement through AFI at Appalachian State University. She received her MSW from Eastern Carolina University and went on to receive her LCSW. Ashton began her work with children and families as a home-based family preservation worker and then continued her work with families as a family-centered meeting facilitator at a child abuse prevention center. She went on to work in foster care where she worked with therapeutic foster parents and then as an intake coordinator where she partnered with community agencies to help place children in need of therapeutic foster care services. Additionally, Ashton has worked on a contractual basis, as a therapist to children, adolescents and families in Durham, NC as well as a school-based therapist in Charlotte, NC.
